There are three primary ways to hire a domestic worker in Dubai, each with its own cost and administrative structure:
- Tadbeer Centers (Recommended): These are government-authorized centers that handle recruitment, training, and visa processing. You can either sponsor the maid yourself or hire one already sponsored by the center (which reduces your legal liability).
- Private Agencies: You can use a licensed recruitment agency to find a candidate. They often provide a “trial period” and replacement guarantees.
- Direct Sponsorship: If you already know someone or have a referral, you can sponsor them directly. This requires you to handle all the paperwork, medical tests, and visa fees.
2. Understand the Legal Requirements
To legally sponsor a housemaid as an expatriate, you must meet specific criteria:
- Minimum Salary: Typically, sponsors must have a monthly salary of at least AED 25,000.
- Accommodation: You must provide proof of a minimum two-bedroom apartment (via an Ejari contract) to ensure the worker has a private living space.
