Youth Teams help athletes grow physically and socially, all while fostering a love for the sport of climbing.
Whether the goal is to have fun, hone competitive climbing skills, or give a brand new sport a try, we are here to support and encourage youth athletes along their unique climbing journeys.

Meet Our Coaches
Head Youth Coach

Sophie is a competitive climber with 5 years of youth coaching experience.
She has coached both the Competitive and Professional Development teams of the Sportrock Performance Institute. Her approach is evidence-based with an emphasis on technique and age-appropriate development.
She boasts an impressive roster of athletes that travel from all over to work with her and coaches them through success at the local, national, and international levels.

Youth Coach

With 10 years of climbing experience under her belt, Reagan is leading our Youth Rec Team while also working on our setting team. Although she loves bouldering, sport climbing has her heart. She is also in flight school and is studying to become a pilot. Reagan is an encouraging, enthusiastic coach!

Rec Team programming is designed to teach your child how to:
Utilize proper body positioning
Control weight distribution
Maintain core tension
Enhance breath control
Improve foot positioning
Fall safely
Our Development Team will help your child advance by leaps and bounds.

Build on the skills learned/mastered from Rec Team
Learn more about competition style climbing
Establish a fitness routine
Nurture communication and teamwork

Development Team programming is designed to teach your child how to:
Develop advanced body positioning skills
Master control of weight distribution
Approach dynamic climbs with confidence
Enhance breath control
Refine foot positioning on slab and overhanging terrain
