Are you a brand new climber?

Here are some first-visit tips:

  • No membership is required to come try us out! Grab yourself a one of our day passes and come on in. Shoes and chalk are included in the price of our day passes!

  • Wear comfortable clothes you can move freely in. For some people, that means leggings and sleeveless shirts. Some people climb in jeans! It’s up to you. Climbing shoes, however, are required. Climbing shoes are specially designed to help your feet stay on the walls. You can rent shoes from us or bring your own.

  • You’ll need to sign a waiver before you climb. You can do this on our website from home or when you arrive at the gym. When you arrive head to our front desk area to get yourself checked in!

  • We have rental shoes and chalk at the front desk. We sell beverages and snacks in case you get hungry. Helpful items to bring are a bottle of water and a bag to hold loose items while you climb. For safety you need to empty your pockets and remove hand or arm jewelry before you get on the walls.

  • Where to start

We use “Circuit Grading” at our gym to mark the difficulty of climbs. This system uses a color and a number to indicate the difficulty of each boulder problem. White tagged climbs are a good place to start.

We have a write up on how Circuit Grading works so you can read up and feel confident that you can find the climbs for you! We also have a write up on how to use the Kilter Board since that can be intimidating for new climbers as well.

  • It’s probably no surprise, but you’ll learn the most by: climbing more! If you’d like more formal training we offer climbing classes, yoga classes, and meetup groups to help you grow as a climber and meet members of the climbing community. Check out our calendar of events to see what’s coming up.

  • That’s totally normal! The more you climb, the more confident you’ll feel. Bringing a friend along can help with nerves, but even if you can’t get someone to come with we’re here to get you through those first visit jitters.

We love supporting newer climbers and will be here for you every step of the way.

We can’t wait to have you climbing with us.
